Evolution of structure, mechanical properties and fracture of β titanium alloy in the process of wire obtaining

Popis: In the paper the effect of strain during rolling on the structure, mechanical properties and fracture of the Ti-15 V-3Al-3Sn-3Cr-1Mo-1Zr alloy in the process of wire obtaining has been studied. It is shown that at the strain value e = 6.3 the processing leads to the formation in the alloy of stripe fragmented structure with thickness of 50–100 nm. As a result, the wire of the β titanium alloy with high ultimate strength (1320 MPa) and satisfactory ductility (6%) was obtained. The resulting wire also demonstrates ductile fracture after tension at room temperature.
