Subwavelength structures (SWSs) have the ability to suppress Fresnel reflections, for that reason, random SWSs have begun to be fabricated on glass. However, random structures can hardly be simulated and therefore, they cannot be easily computationally studied. In this work, using a mathematical model to simulate random SWSs and the Effective Medium Theory (EMT), we present a parametric analysis of two different SWSs in order to understand the influence that their main parameters have in the spectral reflectance. Moreover, we analyze the possibility of implanting these structures on photovoltaic glass to reduce its reflectance, and therefore, increase the solar cell efficiency. For this reason, we have made an optimization of these structures maximizing the theoretical photogenerated short-circuit current density that a solar cell would produce laminated with these structured glasses. Finally, we have analyzed the omnidirectional property of these SWSs obtaining promising results.
