The resin bead as a thermal ion source: A sims study

Popis: Secondary ion spectrometry has been used to follow the course of typical thermal emission mass spectrometric analyses of U samples loaded on single anion resin beads. It was found that U stayed almost entirely in the carbon matrix remaining after the resin beads were heated, while C showed considerable mobility. An interpretation of the enhanced ionization efficiency observed from samples mounted in this fashion is presented.
