The present paper aims to describe the Demonstrator layout designed and implemented in the SUITED Project (IST 1999-10469), the validation campaign execution and some important data evaluation result. The SUITED Project aims at studying and demonstrating level the delivery and operation of multimedia service in mobile environment (e.g., in vehicles such as cars, aeroplanes, trains etc.); mobile users can take benefit of a satellite coverage in Ka band and its complementation guaranteed by terrestrial wide band access segments (GPRS, WLAN, UMTS). On the connection infrastructure, to perform multimedia service access, new Quality of Service (QoS) methodologies and policy have been implemented and together integrated. The validation campaign has allowed to test the system in an actual situation, making available a good data quantity to perform suitable evaluations. Some interesting comments on the obtained results conclude the paper. |
