Popis: | Current work reports the mineralization of chlorpyrifos pesticide (CP) using copper nanoparticles (Cu NPs) under normal daylight. Mineralization of CP is evidenced by the absence of CP νC–Cl and phosphorothioate functional groups peaks in IR spectra and disappearance of CP absorption band in UV–Vis spectra, respectively. Mineralization mechanism is proposed based on the formation of electrons and holes by light absorption which produces reactive oxygen species to initiate degradation of adsorbed CP molecules on photocatalytic Cu2O/CuO surface layers around Cu NPs. |
