The dynamic conditions arising in a particular high speed cropping machine are investigated with the aim of establishing the basic design parameters for a larger improved version. The dynamics of the cropping process is investigated with the aid of an approximate theory. The impact time between the two main moving masses are measured and these correlate well with those predicted. The design features of the improved machine are briefly discussed. |
