The authors deal with the problem of sponsoring, understood as a rendering assistance to the members of a Bulgarian ethnic community in foreign ethnic environment, its organizations and structures, and the community itself. They formulate the thesis that the various actions supporting it’s the activities and initiatives work as a community-based factor, regardless of its type – whether it is dispersed, a diaspora or an anclave. Further, their interest is focused on the disclosure and analysis of models and forms of assistance, such as unpaid work of formal and informal leaders of the various community structures; unpaid work of members of the community structures regarding their functioning; gathering of voluntary membership fees from members of the community structures supporting thus their functioning; activities and initiatives for assistance of newly arrived Bulgarians – information, provision of specific assistance, etc.; activities and initiatives to support community members fot one or another occasion – sickness, study, etc.; activities and initiatives related to the construction of temples, memorial sites, etc.; activities and initiatives to celebrate national and traditional holidays – voluntary work, food, songs, dances, etc., sponsoring of events in one or another form; activities and initiatives related to the support of people, families, organizations and other people in need in Bulgaria, etc. Finally, it is emphasized that they all represent a decisive factor in the consolidation of the community and its development. |
