Popis: | Hypertension causes increased pressure to the ventricular wall leading to ventricular hypertrophy and interstitial fibrosis (Schoen and Mitchell, Robbins and Cotran pathologic basis of disease. Elsevier, Philadelphia, 2015). Systemic hypertension affects on the left ventricle causing concentric hypertrophy leading to poor filling of the ventricle causing left atrial dilation (Schoen and Mitchell, Robbins and Cotran pathologic basis of disease. Elsevier, Philadelphia, 2015). Pulmonary hypertension affects on the right heart, called cor pulmonale, cause right ventricular and atrial hypertrophy (Schoen and Mitchell, Robbins and Cotran pathologic basis of disease. Elsevier, Philadelphia, 2015). Chest x-ray, echocardiography, and cardiac magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) can be used for evaluation of hypertensive cardiovascular disease. Findings on echocardiography includes symmetric ventricular hypertrophy, impaired early diastolic relaxation, ascending aortic dilation, decreased right ventricular volume relative to mass, and loss of vena caval flattening with inspiration (Otto, Textbook of clinical echocardiography. Elsevier, Philadelphia, 2018). |
