| Popis: | The case of bilateral parapharyngeal abscesses in a 61 year-old man is reported. This patient had complaints of a sore throat and swelling on his anterior left ear. We diagnosed bilateral parapharyngeal abscesses on CT and MRI scans.A bacteriological study of these abscesses revealed both aerobic and anaerobic bacteria; a mixed infection of streptococcus constellatus and prevotella intermedia had caused serious inflammation. Drainage and antibiotic therapy proved to be effective. |
