Popis: | The feasibility and high delay efficiency of the stimulated Brillouin scattering (SBS) slow light under different pump wavelengths in a high nonlinearity silica microstructure fiber (HNL–MSF) are demonstrated experimentally. Up to 14 ns time delay is achieved by the HNL–MSF under relative low pump power (∼200 mW) and short fiber length (25 m), showing that the time delay efficiency of the HNL–MSF is four times higher than that of the single mode fiber (SMF). As a result, the transit time of the signal pulse can be reduced by shortening the fiber length because of the high nonlinearity due to the small mode area, leading to an improvement of the control rate of the fiber-based SBS slow light technique. Further improvement of the control rate could be expected by combining the structure design and the fiber material selection. |
