Popis: Background: Nuts are nutrient-dense foods, rich in unsaturated fatty acids, proteins, fiber, minerals, antioxidants and other phytochemicals. These oilseeds are part of the Mediterranean diet and are eaten as snacks, desserts or part of a meal. Dietary compounds such as nuts can modulate the secretion of enterohormones related to appetite and satiety. In the context of the global obesity epidemic, understanding the mechanisms that control human appetite is crucial, since obesity is a state of energy dysregulation characterized by decreased hormonal appetite signaling and excess adiposity, a risk factor for cardiovascular disease, diabetes, musculoskeletal disorders and some cancers. Studies have shown that consuming nuts can help control weight by reducing appetite and decreasing fat absorption. Thus, our aim is to identify the effects of nuts on receptors and hormones that regulate appetite in overweight and obese adults. Methods: We will carry out a scope review following the Joanna Briggs Institute manual, for the selection, extraction and presentation of data. Based on the PCC acronym (P – population, C – concept and C – context) we elaborate the following question: What are the effects of nuts on receptors and hormones that regulate appetite in overweight and obese adults? Thus, we will map the key concepts and examine the breadth of existing evidence available on the topic. We will detail the flow of research, data extraction and evidence presentation, through the review process flowchart and apply the Prisma ScR extension checklist. Our systematic search will be conducted in November 2021 and will only include clinical trials from five electronic databases: MEDLINE/PubMed, Embase, Web of Science, Cochrane Library and Scopus. The data will be extracted and registered in a pre-defined data form and will be presented in a tabular form, accompanied by a descriptive summary. Population: Overweight and obese adults Concept: Effect of nut consumption on appetite-regulating hormones and receptors Context: Literature data on the action mechanisms of nut compounds that participate in appetite-regulation.
