Recently, public policies in Chile have recognised the role of the principals, implementing a program for leadership preparation called "Excellent Principals". From this perspective, this study sought to identify the preparation needs of the participants of these programs. A survey was applied before the beginning of the program, to 27 principals and 17 aspiring principals, asking about the topics that a leadership program must have. Data was analysed through content analysis. Further analysis was applied to articulate the responses of the participants with the oficial curriculum presented by the Ministry.The results show difference in the need of both groups, while principals demands an instructional curriculum, aspiring principals focus the attention from an organizational perspective. The implications for a different training process are discussed. |
