Popis: Losses of nitrogen from the soil and plant system have never been measured directly, and gains have almost always been estimated from conventional nitrogen balance experiments. A gas-tight assembly is described which is low cost and has been successful in investigating gaseous nitrogen changes in the normal soil and plant systems, even where changes in nitrogen are small. Simultaneous fixation of carbon and nitrogen could be followed from day to day under controlled conditions. The chamber may also find use in microbiological and plant-physiological work.
