Popis:	The mathematical formulation of clustering problems is considered. An attempt is made to define and discover an abstract structure from the data on the basis of finitely many observations that are assumed to be in R/sup 2/ using Euclidean distance as the dissimilarity measure. A consistent estimation and classification estimation procedure is provided for compact regions in R/sup 2/ using a minimal spanning tree. >
