Popis: The development of effective methods for promoting the carbon-nitrogen bond formation has long been a challenge in catalysis. However the addition of amines to olefins to yield alkylamines, is surprisingly catalyzed more efficiently by alkali metal amides, rather than by transition metal complexes [1]. On the other hand different routes to the metal promoted C-N bond formation lead to a different type of products. These catalytic syntheses involve the interaction of carbon monoxide with organic azides, RN3 [2–4], with aromatic nitro compounds, ArNO2 [5], and with amines in the presence of molecular oxygen [6–8] (Scheme 1).
