| Popis: | Collecting materials from and about the U.S. Mexican Borderland presents special challenges: (1) Defining the area and its literature in historical and contemporary terms. (2) Identifying publishers and sources. (3) Developing a policy to acquire the materials thus categorized. (4) Continualiy assessing to look for gaps or to formulate changes in orientation. This article describes how the University of Arizona recently approached the question anew and what considerations ruled this approach. Its objective is to help other would-be collectors of borderlands materials, or, in a general sense, collectors of any hard-to-define materials. |
