Radioiodine Uptake Values in Euthyroid, Non-Goitrous, Prepubertal Children in Greece

Popis:	Thyroidal uptake of 131I was measured in 50 euthyroid, non-goitrous Greek children aged 2-12 years (17 males and 33 females). The 131I uptake values of Greek children (mean ± standard error for both sexes of 31.8 ± 1.81, 59.1 ± 2.17 and 60.2 ± 2.16 at 3, 24 and 48 hrs respectively) are the highest recorded so far in the literature, a manifestation of the prevailing iodopenia in our country. Another manifestation of the iodopenia was the finding that in 41% of the prepubertal children the PB131I values at 48 hours were larger than the upper normal limit of 0.4 per cent of the dose/liter.
