This paper covers the experimental work carried out to evaluate different properties of silicone rubber high voltage insulators. Inorganic filler such as alumina trihydrate (ATH) has been used in this experiment. Various properties such as; electrical, mechanical and physical properties for silicone rubber insulators have been investigated. Various samples of silicone rubber with and without inorganic filler (ATH) have been chemically prepared. Dielectric strength for silicone rubber sample reached to 30.16 KV/mm at dry condition while it reached to 19.15 KV/mm at salt wet with salinity 35000 pS/cm. Also, mechanical property (elongation at break %) and physical property (porosity test) for various silicone rubber samples with and without ATH filler has been examined under different environmental conditions. All properties such as; electrical, mechanical and physical had been affected by high salinity (50000 pS/cm). |
