Various aspects of numerical simulation for filling problems related to injection moulding are addressed. Two front tracking techniques are studied, one based on particle tracking and the other on source propagation. Both isothermal and non-isothermal processing conditions are adopted whilst modelling the injection phase only, of the complete industrial process. Some model axisymmetric shaped moulds are considered in this early stage of a wider study aimed at fully three-dimensional predictions for multi-layered thin-walled products in complex moulds. |
