Tritium Breeding Ratio in Li/Pb-Li/Pb-Li-C Spheres Measured with Li2CO3 Pellets and/or LiF TLDs

Popis: A series of fusion neutronics integral experiments have been made for Li, Pb-Li and Pb-Li-C combined spheres of 120cm diameter at the intense D-T neutron source facility OKTAVIAN, Osaka U.. The Tritium Production Rate (TPR) distribution inside the three kinds of spheres were measured with Li2CO3 pellets and/or LiF-TLDs, including some reference activation rates as neutron spectral indices. To analyze experimental data, neutron transport calculations were carried out using the ANISN and the MCNP codes with the nuclear data libraries based on JENDL-3 and ENDF/B-IV. Determination of the Tritium Breeding Ratio (TBR) was done using the least squares method employing covariance matrixes on experimental data. Good benchmark data on TBR are obtained in one-dimensional spherical geometry and are applied to integral check on the latest nuclear data file JENDL-3. The analysis for the Pb-Li-C sphere experiment shows that the TBR is 1.15(±7%), experimentally determined from the LiF-TLD measurement.
