Analysis of Chinese Pipe Burst Events Reported by Web Media in 2013

Popis: In order to find out characteristics of pipe bursts, 190 burst events reported by domestic web news in 2013 were collected and analyzed. The statistical analysis results showed that bursts often occurred in months when the weather changed or was bitterly cold. Bursts occurred most frequently in the time period of 5:00-17:00. Generally, main roads, intersections and construction sites were more likely to become events locations. Heavy trucks passing, aging pipes, barbaric construction and changing weather were factors affecting pipe bursts. The diameter of burst pipes concentrated in DN200~DN600, DN800 and DN1000~DN1200. The probability of bursts might increase when pipes age between 20~40 years. The relevant department dealt with bursts in time, and about 70% of the burst problems could be solved in 24 hours.
