A new species, Nanorana ( Paa ) zhaoermii sp. nov. is described based on a series of specimens collected from Zhari village, Lhunze County, Tibet Autonomous Region, China. The new species can be distinguished from other known congeners by molecular divergence in the mitochondrial 12S rRNA and 16S rRNA genes and morphological characters including: medium body size, SVL 63.8 – 75.4 mm in adult males, 65.0 – 72.1 mm in adult females; presence of black keratinized spines on the fingers and chest in males; small warts and granules on the dorsum; absence of dorsolateral folds; dorsal body grass green with dark brown or rust spots; a broad yellowish-brown stripes in the lateral sides of the females body. Furthermore, we compared the new species with Odorrana arunachalensis Saikia et al., 2017 referring to its original description, and propose to allocate this species to the genus Nanorana (Dicroglossidae). |
