Biochemistry is one of the most important domain of the blood analysis because it evaluates the functions of the internal organs, measures the electrolytes and underlines the value of the enzymes from the body. This routine operation is a method of analysis for the glycemic levels, the hydroelectrolytic balance and the renal and hepatic functions. This paper presents an original prototype of a biochemistry analyzer, fully developed by the authors, that measures the amount of a specific biochemical parameter from a very small sample using a real-time algorithm based on image acquisition and processing technology. The novelty of the system is the use of an USB camera combined with a software algorithm instead of using a conventional photometer, like available analyzers from the market use. The presented prototype is a low-cost, reliable and supplies flexibility from the programming point-of-view because it requires basic hardware components and most of the analysis process is performed by the software program. |
