Popis: Virtually from the time of their first issue, Walter Scott's novels were popular subjects for illustration in British print publications. The article traces the early output of these, both as illustrations to collected sets and as separate publications, with special attention to the rivalry between Edinburgh and London as leading sites of production. Production reached a high point with the Magnum Opus edition of the Waverley Novels (1829-33), leading to an overspill of print illustrations, some of which are discovered to have featured in a number of alternatives outlets in the early 1830s.
