Popis: Due to the complex nature of radio frequency (RF) signals in wireless sensor networks (WSN) and regarding the advanced technologies and multiples applications, the quality of service and reliability should be the most critical aspects. In this paper, we present a design of a hardware platform based on digital RF attenuators for emulation of wireless sensor networks. The system design is formed by a hardwired matrix of sensor nodes edged by RF attenuators. The emulation of real-life conditions is ensured in the proposed system first by estimating the losses in received signal strength in a wireless area and then imitating the attenuation phenomenon in a wired sensors network using digital step RF attenuators. The developed hardware design present some smart investigations in routing protocols due to the regular geometry of nodes. The efficiency of the designed smart testbed will be proved by modeling the behavior of sensor nodes connected to the board to present an approach for nodes controllability based on statistical investigations.
