Hyperfine field and saturation magnetization data are analyzed to obtain solute transition element moments and Fe moment perturbations in dilute Fe alloys. A direct comparison of these results is made with the neutron scattering data. The host moment perturbations show simple oscillatory behavior which is interpreted as arising from the polarization of itinerant d electrons by localized d moments through mainly Coulomb exchange interactions. The behavior of Ni-based alloys can also be understood within this model. |
