A study of the Be9(He3, γ)C12 reaction

Popis: Gamma rays have been detected from bombardment of thin Be 9 targets with beams of 1.5 to 4.5 MeV He 3 ions. Transitions are identified via Be 9 (He 3 , α) to the 17.6 MeV level of Be 8 , and via Be 9 (He 3 , γ) to the ground state and first-excited state of C 12 . Absolute 90° differential cross sections for the latter process have been measured. The absence of any observed transitions to a 10.1 MeV level in C 12 is discussed.
