Popis:	The performance of a number of concrete construction projects in India have been investigated to find the probable causes of premature distress, and to recommend measures for restoring these facilites to an acceptable long-term performance level. This paper reviews the techniques employed in this investigation of concrete construction and the importance of input provided by a multidisciplinary team of experts. The multidisciplinary approach is discussed, and the visual inspection process is described. Case studies are described that illustrate corrosion reinforcement, chemical reactions, the effects of temperature and fire damage, and damage due to alkali-silica reaction.
