Popis: The etiology of congenital skeletal dysplasia remains unknown. There has been speculation that a concurrent relationship exists between the skeletal anomaly and the well-documented coinciding arterial dysgenesis. A previous retrospective review of patients with the talipes equinovarus deformity demonstrated a 93% incidence of dysgenesis of the anterior tibial and medial plantar arteries.2 Furthermore, Hootnick and his associates1 have proposed a relationship of arterial dysgenesis and foot necrosis as a result of therapeutic intervention. Consequently, clinical scenarios may arise in which the surgeon may tailor his therapy based on a knowledge of the preexisting arterial anatomy.
