Popis: | A performance-based design method is proposed for steel structures using ultra-high strength steel to remain damage-free, or elastic, under the ‘extremely rare’ earthquakes or even stronger ground motions. Based on the principles of passive vibration control, the design method generates simple diagrams of performance target to design parameter relations and enables structural engineers to easily comprehend the fundamental behaviors of the structure. An example of the application is also shown for comparison with the design by the existing limit strength calculation. |
