| Popis: | The growth of a normally conducting region in a superconducting coil is related to the propagation of such a region along a superconducting wire. The theory is compared with observations on two large coils which incorporated close coupled secondary windings, so that the voltage across the normal region could be observed directly. Reasonable agreement is found. |
