Popis: | The antitumour activity of a tetranuclear (1) and trinuclear (2) ferrocenyl-amino complex was evaluated against two colon cancer cell lines, the wild-type HT-29 and mutant DLD-1. The compounds displayed moderate micromolar cytotoxic activity in both cell lines. The DLD-1 tumour cell population proved more susceptible, as compounds 1 and 2 showed greater inhibition of cell growth than in the HT-29 cell line. Compounds 1 and 2 were capable of accumulation inside the tumour cells, the cellular uptake displaying good correlation with the early apoptosis induction. Complex 2 is a better inducer of reactive oxygen species in tumour cells. |
