Popis: The studies of radiation decomposition of Sr(NO 3 ) 2 in an admixture containing different oxides showed that the rate of radiolysis is enhanced in the presence of Bi 2 O 3 and Sb 2 O 3 while As 2 O 3 shows a retarding effect. The yield of nitrite is also found to depend on the particle size of the nitrate and the mole percent of oxide in the mixture. The results are explained, apart from the occurrence of energy transfer processes taking place between the components of the mixture, on the basis of band gap values of the oxides which determine the electron donor-acceptor properties of the added oxides.
