Popis: Mifepristone (Roussel Uclaf, Paris, France) is an antiprogestin which binds to the progesterone receptor, thereby preventing progesterone from expressing its biological effect. Mifepristone, in combination with a prostaglandin analogue, is used for termination of early pregnancy in several countries, including Sweden [3, 17]. The use of antiprogestins for contraceptive purposes is currently being evaluated and recent results indicate that this may very well be possible.
