Popis: This chapter discusses how the sun's radiation arrives, to what extent it varies, and what constitutes its main parts. In most solar energy work, only the direct and diffuse parts are considered. To achieve the 700 W/m 2 still requires that the collector face the sun, which means it has to dip down toward the horizon and move around to the West. In practice, this extra complication of tracking the sun is rarely carried out, although the loss of watts is considerable. There are two main routes by which energy arrives at a collector, and one of these (direct) can be split into three groups—heat, light, and UV.
