Jaume Marti-OliveUa holds degrees in English Philology and Catalan Literature from the University of Barcelona anda degree in Comparative Literature from the University of Illinois. He is a founding member of the NACS (North American Catalan Society). Currently an Associate Profes sor of Hispanic Film and Cul tural Studies at SUNY-Uni versity at Albany, Martt OliveUa has published exten sively on Catalan narrative, Hispanic film and cultural theory. He has edited two spe cial issues of the Catalan Re view: "Homage to Merce Rodoreda" (1987) and "Women, History and Nation in the Fiction of Maria Aurelia Capmany and Montserrat Roig (1993).
