Popis: | Numerical models play a prominent role in hydrogeology, with simplifying assumptions being inevitable when implementing these models. However, there is a risk of oversimplification, where important processes become neglected. Such processes may be associated with outliers, and consideration of outliers can lead to an improved scientific understanding of bedrock aquifers. Using rigorous logic to investigate outliers can help to explain fundamental scientific questions such as why there are large variations in permeability between different bedrock lithologies. |
