Tapir remains in paralic depositsof Pliocene age in lower valdarno (Tuscany, Italy): Facies analysis and taphonomy

Popis:	Remains of two specimens of Tapirus arvernensis, a young adult and a juvenile, were recovered in paralic depositsof Pliocene age in lower Valdarno. Facies analysis of the succession bearing such remains has been carried out through the study of sedimentary structures and molluscan assemblages. The results of this study show that the two tapirs died and were buried in an interdistributary, very shallow-water bay.
