At the last two meetings of the Acoustical Society of America, some results were presented of a digital‐computer simulation of the scattering of sound pulses from slatted surfaces. It was shown that the computed directivity pattern of the scattering surfaces agreed with experimental measurement, and audible results for a number of different bandwidth‐time products were compared to the direct pulse for a subjective comparison. In this paper, scatterers of a more complex structure are examined with the simulation technique, with a view toward broadening the directivity pattern while at the same time avoiding subjectively objectionable sounds due to the scattered pulse or the interaction of the direct and scattered pulses. |
