Lead levels were monitored on the indoor firing range at New Jersey Institute of Technology. Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometry was used for the analysis of lead. It was found that levels of lead, for both pistol and rifle, were significantly higher, while the range was in use, than existing standards. Also, lead concentrations from pistol use was much higher than that for rifle use. It was shown that a potential health hazard due to inorganic lead exposure exists on the N.J.I.T. range and recommendations for a proper ventilation system were made. |
