Popis:	In this essay, I argue that an image of regular returns on invested capital played a profound role in Mark Twain’s imagination, informing not only his conception of financial well-being for himself and his family, but his understanding of literary creativity itself. To observe the operations of unearned income both in Twain’s fiction and as Twain’s fiction is to encounter a different version of Mark Twain, Business Man than the one we knew.
