An Estimation of the Efficiency of the Absorption of Immune Globulins from Colostrum by Newborn Calves

Popis:	The concentration of serum γ-globulins before and after feeding 13 newborn calves was determined, as were the plasma volumes. These provided an estimate of the total amount of absorbed circulating γ-globulin. When these figures are compared with the quantity of γ-globulin fed, there was a tendency for the amounts absorbed to increase with the amounts fed. The efficiency of the absorption mechanism was calculated directly from these results and was modified in the light of certain factors which tend to make the calculated efficiency an underestimate.
