Popis: | Seismic instrumentation used to measure earthquake response in a nuclear power plant is considered. Recommendations concerning the instruments to be used and their locations in the plant are presented. It is suggested that a central recording unit be placed in the control area. This unit is connected to three triaxial subchannel can be defined by the flow area contained within straight lines joining the centers of rod fuel elements in square or triangular lattice array. Within such an arrangement for turbulent flow conditions there are basically two methods of exchange between the flow subchannels. One mechanism is caused by the pressure gradients existing between subchannels, and the other by the turbulent diffusion of mass and heat. The effects of geometrical configuration on the turbulent mass exchange process both within a subchannel and between subchannels were examined using a sixteen rod square pitch lattice as the rod array. The ratio of rod gap to rod diameter was varied between 0.07 and 1.2, at a Reynolds number of approximately 5 x 10/sup 4/. Air was used as the working fluid, the isokinetically injected nltrous oxide tracer gas was employed to determine concentration profiles within the central test subchannel. The radial diffusivity ofmore » mass within a subchannel and the transport of mass between subchannels were investigated. (INIS)« less |
