Some observations on the feeding ecology of the wolf spider Pardosa lugubris (WALCK.). — In a beechspruce forest near Zurich (Switzerland) studies on the feeding ecology of the wolf spider Pardosa lugubris (WALCK.) were carried out. Only 6% of 513 wolf spiders caught by hand held a prey (strongly deformed) between their chelicerae. The food of P. lugubris exclusively was composed of small, soft-bodied arthropods (Insecta, Arachnida). > 85% of the identified prey animals consisted of Collembola (Genera Orchesella and Tomocerus) and small Diptera. |
