Popis: A procedure has been developed for determining the molecular-weight distribution of poly-m-phenylene isophthalamide by the method of exclusion chromatography. The effect of contaminants in the isophthaloyl chloride and N,N-dimethyl acetamide on molecular-weight distribution of the polymer obtained has been studied. It has been found that the main contaminants which affect molecular-weight characteristics of the polymer are monoisophthaloyl chloride, water, chloroisophthaloyl chloride, and dimethylformamide.
