We estimate the effect of a change in the voucher policy of the most densely populated region in Italy (Lombardy) on private school enrolment at primary, junior and upper secondary educational levels. The policy change has been implemented in 2008 and we observe the potential effects in the short run (i.e., between 2008 and 2012). After controlling for anticipation effects and potential neighborhood influence in school choice policies through a conditional difference-in-differences procedure, we find that the policy change did not affect private school enrolment in the region across all educational levels. |
