Popis: The increasing recognition of harms associated with long-term opioid use for chronic pain has generated enthusiasm for alternatives, including medicinal cannabis. As of March 2021, approximately 300,000 Canadians were authorized to use cannabis for medical purposes. A 2021 systematic review of randomized trials of cannabis for chronic pain failed to find any studies of inhaled cannabis; however, inhalation or vaporization remain the most common mode of cannabis consumption. This systematic review aims to establish the harms associated with the use of inhaled cannabis for the treatment of chronic pain.
