Popis: In the manufacture of pipe grids for shell-and-tube heat exchangers the drilling of openings represents the major volume (up to 80%) of the mechanical treatment. According to the existing technology, the boring is performed by spiral drills made of R6M5 fast-cutting steel, followed by counterboring in order to achieve the required precision of the treatment and the surface roughness of the openings. A significant fraction of chemical equipment is manufactured from 12KhlSNIOT and 10KhlTNI3M3T stainless steels. In the boring of openings in pipe grids made of these materials with drills made of R6M5 steel the productivity of the treatment is reduced and wear of the tools is increased. Due to the standardized dimensions of the pipe grids it is not possible to change the kinematic scheme of the treatment; tools of progressive design [i, 2] must therefore be used instead of the spiral drills in order to improve the technology of boring.
