Popis: Information is presented on breeding seasons and reproduction of ungulates in the Henderson Ranch area in Southern Rhodesia. Some species, the impala, warthog, kudu, waterbuck, wildebeest, giraffe and perhaps eland, appear to be seasonal in the production of young. However, these species differ in the time when young are produced, and together show no correlation with the plant phenology of the area. Species which breed through the year, but may have a seasonal peak, are the zebra, duiker and steenbuck. With the exception of the warthog, all of the species observed produced one young per year. The writers believe that duiker and steenbuck produce their first young at one year of age; impala, warthog, kudu and probably waterbuck and wildebeest at two years; eland, and probably zebra and giraffe at three years.
