Popis: | The objective of this study was to identify the effects of dose rate change when planning intensity modulated radiation therapy. The study involved 10 patients with nasopharyngeal carcinoma undergoing intensity modulated radiation therapy among patients with head and neck cancer. Computed tomography images with 3 mm thickness were acquired under the same conditions for all patients, and Eclipse software was used for the treatment planning system. As for the treatment regimen, with an energy of 6 MV, eight irradiation planes, and equal dose volumes were used; different dose rates of 300 monitor unit/min, 400 monitor unit/min, and 500 monitor unit/min were applied, respectively. The mean dose on the parotid gland was calculated through three treatment regimens, and was analyzed using the mean values of 10 patients. The dose in the parotid gland site was verified by use of a 2D diode array. The total monitor unit and irradiation time were compared. As the results of this study in connection to the parotid gl... |
